'I Can't Stay Here': Family Of Girl Sexually Assaulted In Facebook Live Video Threatened, Taunted: Report

No charges have been filed in the case, and Chicago police have not named any formal suspects in the attack.

CHICAGO, IL — The family of a 15-year-old girl whose sexual assault was recorded and streamed on Facebook Live has been receiving online threats, while kids around the victim's Lawndale neighborhood home have been joking about the horrific incident, the Chicago Tribune reports.

The internet threats have now become part of an ongoing police investigation to uncover who attacked the teen and posted the video of it online, the report stated. According to the victim's mother, Facebook users have left threats, saying they are out to get the teen, and children come to the door, asking for the girl, who is staying with a relative because she's too afraid to be home, the report added.

"This is just disturbing, and to think, the kids think it is funny," the victim's mother told The Associated Press.

The girl went missing Sunday, March 19, after her uncle dropped her off at her home. The family reported the teen's disappearance to police Monday, and later that day, relatives were informed of a disturbing online video featuring the 15-year-old.

In the Facebook Live footage, the girl is seen being sexually assaulted by several boys. About 40 people viewed the video before its inappropriate content was reported to Facebook officials and removed from the social media network.

On Tuesday, March 21, the girl was found at a few blocks from her home and taken to a nearby hospital after being reunited with her mom. According to the victim's uncle, the teen was in "good condition," but she suffered injuries from the attack, including a busted lip and puffy cheeks.

"She went to the hospital, but she was so scared she didn't want anybody to touch her," the victim's mom told the Tribune.

As of Wednesday, March 22, police have not named any formal suspects in the attack, and no charges have been filed while detectives try to identify the individuals in the Facebook video.

A law enforcement source, however, told the Tribune that police have taken into custody a 14-year-old boy who is acquainted with the victim. The boy was allegedly identified as one of the people in the Facebook Live video, the report added.
