Winton Collins' sentence was handed down this week.

CHICAGO, IL - A man accused of shooting and killing his ex-girlfriend in front of her two children three years ago was sentenced this week to 55 years in prison, according to a CBS report.

32-year-old Winton Collins confronted Georgina Russell, his ex-girlfriend, on a family member’s front porch in North Lawndale in 2013 and fired several shots.

Randell’s two children, ages 4 and 7 at the time, in addition to four other relatives, were present.

After the first two shots, Randell begged Collins to spare her life court testimony show. But the man kept shooting and Randell was pronounced dead shortly after at a nearby hospital.

Collins fled the scene, but was arrested later that day in Bellwood when a family member turned him in after he allegedly confessed.
