West Side Man Shot by Police During Armed Robbery Charged
Sherrod Suttle, 27, is accused of trying to rob an Austin gas station Sunday night. He now faces multiple felony charges.

CHICAGO, IL — An armed robbery suspect who was shot in the leg by police over the weekend faces a series of felony charges.
Sherrod Suttle, 27, of the 4100 block of West Kamerling Avenue, was charged with the following, according to police:
- two counts of felony attempted robbery armed with a firearm
- two counts of felony aggravated assault on a peace officer with a weapon
- felony possession of a controlled substance
- felony aggravated battery/use of a deadly weapon
- two counts of misdemeanor of resisting an officer
- misdemeanor battery
Suttle is scheduled to appear in bond court Wednesday.

Officers interrupted an armed robbery of a West Side gas station Sunday night that Suttle is accused of committing, police said. When police arrived at the station in the 1000 block of North Cicero Avenue in the Austin neighborhood, they confronted Suttle, shooting him in the leg.

Suttle was taken and treated at an area hospital. The officers were not injured, police said.
The shooting is being investigated by the Independent Police Review Authority, which also will investigate the use of force in the incident. The officers in the shooting will be placed on administrative duties for 30 days, police said.
