Cops Shoot Armed Robbery Suspect in Leg on the West Side: CPD
Officers confronted the man Sunday while he was allegedly robbing a gas station in the Austin neighborhood.

CHICAGO, IL — Officers shot a suspect in the leg Sunday night after arriving as an armed robbery was in progress on the West Side, according to Chicago police.
At about 8:52 p.m., police responded to a report of an armed robbery at a gas station in the 1000 block of North Cicero Avenue in the Austin neighborhood. When officers arrived, they saw the robbery in progress and confronted the alleged armed suspect, police said in a statement. The officers shot at the male offender, hitting him in the leg, according to the statement, which added that a weapon was found at the scene.
The suspect, who was not identified, was taken to an area hospital for treatment, and the details of his condition were not released. It also was not know what charges, if any, were filed against the man.

The officers at the scene were not injured, police said.
The shooting is being investigated by the Independent Police Review Authority, which also will investigate the use of force in the incident. The officers in the shooting will be placed on administrative duties for 30 days, police said.

CHICAGO, IL — A robbery call Sunday night on the West Side resulted in a police-involved shooting, according to Chicago police.
The shooting occured in the 1000 block of North Cicero Avenue in the Austin neighborhood after police were responding to the call of a robbery in the area, according CPD communications director Anthony Guglielmi, who posted an update on Twitter.
A suspect was shot, but there were no reports of injured officers, Guglielmi wrote.
