DUPAGE COUNTY, IL — A Westmont woman faces multiple charges after police say a body scanner found 14 bags of heroin inside her "genital region" while she was being booked into the DuPage County Jail on a charge of manufacturing or delivery of heroin and possession of a controlled substance. Victoria L. Cooper, 39, of the 4000 block of North Washington, was additionally charged with aggravated possession of a controlled substance after the incident.

The body scanner is used to detect drugs and other contraband on inmates who are being booked into the jail. “This machine, which we installed just more than a year ago, gives us a passive, and extremely accurate, methodology to identify and locate contraband,” Sheriff James Mendrick said in a news release. “The scanner, along with the watchful eyes of our deputies, kept dangerous narcotics from entering our correctional center population.”

In connection with Cooper's first charge, Michael Young, 42, of the 4000 block of North Washington, was also arrested. Young was charged with criminal drug conspiracy with intent to manufacture or distribute heroin and possession of a controlled substance.
