DuPage County Health Department will use the recent federal grants to help provide services for mental health, substance use issues and more

DUPAGE COUNTY — A pair of grants totaling $2 million will be put to use by DuPage County Health Department (DCHD) to provide services that encourage mental wellness, help fight substance use disorder and help prevent drowning incidents.
DCHD announced Thursday that they received a $1.875 million grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), which will be doled out over a five-year period. The funds will aid programs directed at improving mental wellness and helping young residents manage substance use disorder.
A $378,854 grant from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) will be used to offer free swimming lessons for young children to prevent drowning.
