Police say one case involved monthly withdrawals from the victim's money market account that started in March.

WHEATON, IL — Three Wheaton residents told police that they were victims of identity theft in the weeks leading up to Christmas. In one instance, the victim reported that monthly payments had been taken from their money market account since March 2017.

According to a police summary, "unknown persons" had used the victim's information to authorize monthly payments "going to several companies." The monthly withdrawals began coming from the victim's money market account around March 8 and lasted until December 15, according to the crime report.

Another resident reported that a suspect made multiple unauthorized purchases with their bank card on Dec. 21. Later that same day, a different resident told police that their credit card had been used to make purchases that they did not authorize.
