3 Men, 3 Juveniles Charged In West Chicago Stabbing, Shooting

One man is accused of a using "large hunting knife" to stab someone at the home.

WEST CHICAGO, IL — Three men and three juveniles have been charged with a shooting and stabbing that took place in West Chicago early Monday. The incident took place at a home in the 100 block of Wycliffe Drive, according to a press release from DuPage County Sheriff's Office.

Luis Vallin, 19, of West Chicago, Gerardo Luna, 20, of Carpentersville, and Juan Arellano, 20, of Carpentersville, were each charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and mob action in connection with the incident.

Police say they got a call around 1:15 a.m. from a resident who said a rock had been thrown through their window, shots had been fired, and someone at the home had been stabbed. When police got to the scene they found two victims who had serious injuries that were not life threatening.

Both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital. Police conducted an investigation and got a description of the vehicle.

The vehicle in question was found a short time later and four suspects were taken into custody. According to police, two suspects fled on foot, but were taken into custody shortly after.

Vallin is accused of throwing a brick through the back window of the home, which led two people inside of the home to come outside. Arellano is accused of pulling a gun and firing into the house, striking someone inside of the home.

Luna is accused of using a "large hunting knife" to stab someone who came outside once in the side and three times in the upper thigh before all of the suspects fled.

In a statement, DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said, "It is alleged that in the middle of the night, these defendants traveled to DuPage County looking to cause trouble. This type of brazen behavior will not be tolerated in DuPage County and will be met with the full force and effect of the law."

Luna is being held on $250,000 bond, Arellano on $400,000 bond, and Vallin on $30,000 bond.

Vallin and Luna are set to appear in court again on Dec. 2 and Arellano is set to appear in court again on Dec. 3.
