$31M In Renovations Now Underway At DuPage Care Center
The construction will be the first major renovation project to kick off at DuPage Care Center in decades.
WHEATON, IL — Construction has officially kicked off on a project that will bring more than $30 million in renovations to DuPage Care Center in Wheaton.
The first phase of the project will involve upgrading the center's north wing. The 80,000 square foot wing will be revamped, as will its 128 resident rooms. On July 11, a "wall-breaking" ceremony kicked off the work, which should wrap up in 2025.
"We heard from residents of the DuPage Care Center who praised the attention they receive in our facility, which shows a commitment to excellence by our staff," DuPage County Board Chair Deborah Conroy said in a statement. "Now, it's time for the building to match that commitment, ensuring this hidden jewel shines brighter than ever."

Some of the center's expected repairs will reinforce areas that were damaged and eroded by cleaning products during the early years of the coronavirus pandemic. Other anticipated upgrades will focus on the lobby and main entrance, nurse stations and common areas.
Built in 1888, the DuPage Care Center provides its over 300 residents with memory care and other long-term services.
