5 Cars Burglarized In Wheaton: Crime Blotter
Police say burglars stole items from five cars, all of which had been left unlocked.

WHEATON, IL — Wheaton police are investigating five car burglaries that were reported during the second week of July.
Car Burglarized at DuPage County Parking Garage
Someone stole paperwork from a car that was left unlocked while it was parked at DuPage County Parking Garage, 479 County Farm Rd. The incident took place sometime between July 8 and July 11.

Three Cars Burglarized in 1700 Block of Clydesdale Avenue
Three unlocked cars were burglarized at different addresses in the 1700 block of Clydesdale Avenue between 5:30 p.m. on July 14 and 10 a.m. on July 15. Police say the burglars rifled through one car and stole a backpack, a wallet, a tool chest and tire locks from the other vehicles.

Car Burglarized in 2300 Block of Richmond Drive
Police say an unlocked car was rifled through while it was parked on the street in the 2300 block of Richmond Drive. The burglary took place sometime between 10 p.m. on July 14 and 7:30 a.m. on July 15.
Wheaton began seeing an increase in car burglaries in the end of June. At that time, Deputy Police Chief Robert Miller told Patch, "The Wheaton Police Department urges people to not leave valuables in their vehicle and to lock their vehicles at all times. If a vehicle is needed to be parked overnight, have nothing of value in plain sight and remove the garage door opener from the vehicle."
