Wheaton 7-Eleven Robbed At Gunpoint By Masked Men

Police say two men in ski masks robbed the 7-11 at 1277 Butterfield at gunpoint Sunday.

WHEATON, IL — Police are searching for two suspects who robbed a Wheaton 7-11 store at gunpoint early Sunday. The robbery took place at the 1277 Butterfield 7-11 location, which is around the corner from Kids Town Play and Party.

According to a police, two men in ski masks entered the store at approximately 1:44 a.m. and one suspect brandished a handgun. Police say one suspect struck the employee on the head and threatened to shoot the employee.

The suspects then stole cigarettes and cash from the store before fleeing. According to police, a dark SUV was seen fleeing the area and the suspects may have been inside.

The suspects were described as black males, with one suspect wearing a "very distinct coat," which appears black and white in surveillance images.

Police Chief James Volpe told Patch that Wheaton police "do not consider the community to be in danger at this time."
