81 Coronavirus Cases, 11 Deaths At Carol Stream Facility: IDPH
Cases have been confirmed at the facility's skilled nursing and assisted living units.

CAROL STREAM, IL — According to the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), there have been 81 coronavirus cases and 11 deaths confirmed at Covenant Living At Windsor Park Manor in Carol Stream. Windsor Park Manor sent Patch a statement Monday that said a total of 70 residents and employees have tested positive for coronavirus since March 26 and 15 of those residents have died of coronavirus complications.
In an April 17 coronavirus advisory update, Windsor Park Manor wrote that there have been positive cases in both its skilled nursing and assisted living facilities. According to the post, residents "presenting COVID-19-like symptoms are immediately isolated and we [are] following CDC and local health department guidelines when caring for those with COVID-19."

The update said "all efforts are made to provide a private room with private bathroom" for residents with confirmed cases of coronavirus.
In another update from Covenant Living President and CEO Terri Cunliffe, residents in the apartment living facilities were encouraged to "consider wearing a homemade mask, a bandana, or a non-medical mask" if leaving their homes.

Residents who have a cold, coughing or sneezing, were advised to stay indoors. Cunliffe wrote,
"If you have a cold … if you are coughing or sneezing … stay in your apartment, but if you must leave, remember to cover your face to avoid spreading germs to others."
Cunliffe went on to encourage residents to wash their hands, sanitize surfaces and touch as few communal surfaces as possible.
Windsor Park Manor did not immediately return a request for comment, so it's unclear the breakdown of how many employees and residents were diagnosed with coronavirus. Per the statement from Windsor Park Manor, least 18 employees have tested positive for the virus.
If the Illinois Department of Public Health records are accurate, Windsor Park Manor has the largest outbreak of any long-term care facility in DuPage County. Chateau Center in Willowbrook has 54 confirmed cases and 10 deaths and Alden Estates in Naperville has 34 confirmed cases and two deaths, according to IDPH.

Information regarding the Coronavirus continues to evolve and we are providing the latest of what the situation is here at Covenant Living at Windsor Park. From the onset of the Coronavirus situation at our community, we have worked to be diligent and open in providing our residents, family members and employees with information whenever we learned of new cases at our community. We have been asked about cumulative totals we have reported to the county. Since our first notification on March 26, 70 residents or employees at Windsor Park have tested positive for Covid- 19. The breakdown is: one positive test in residential living, 36 in [skilled] nursing, 15 in assisted living, 18 employees. Fifteen residents who have passed away are included within those totals. Our prayers continue for all of those impacted by this virus and for family of those who’ve lost a loved one. Those residents were also part of the Covenant Living family and will be missed. The numbers reported over the weekend from the State of Illinois do not align with these totals because we have learned that they are also including any individuals with a symptom, but have not tested positive. We cannot reiterate enough how we continue to work closely with the local and state health authorities in working through guidelines for infection control and enhanced disinfection cleanings within residents’ rooms and all common areas community wide. The health and safety of our residents and employees remains our highest priority.
