Desert Rose Design Hosts Premiere to Showcase New Lombard Location, Promotes Downtown Lombard Business District and Gives Back to Poised for Success
Lombard, IL (May 17, 2012) Desert Rose Design, a full service marketing and web application development agency, rolled out the red carpet with a “premiere” to showcase their new Lombard location and “cast” members. In true Lombard fashion, businesses and restaurants came together to support this event. Desert Rose Design highlighted non-profit Poised for Success at the event and also with a month long clothing drive.
Desert Rose Design, a WBENC certified woman-owned business, provides brand positioning, web application development and integrated marketing specialties. In looking for a new home, Lombard’s newly revitalized downtown was a perfect fit; like Lombard, Desert Rose Design has grown tremendously in the past year. “Downtown Lombard offers businesses storefront properties, an array of restaurants and services, and easy access to all major highways and the Metra train,” said Helen Levinson, co-founder of Desert Rose Design. “We are pleased to be a part of the emerging downtown business re-growth.”
Mayor Bill Mueller was present for a ribbon cutting ceremony, and Lombard Town Centre President, Walter Smith, and Executive Director, Karen Stonehouse, graced Desert Rose Design with a key to the city. Neighboring businesses, including 20 West Wine and Spirits, Bricks Wood Fired Pizza, Café 101, Capones Restaurant & Pizzeria, Fringe Hair Salon, Lom Ling Restaurant, Main Street Café, Praga Restaurant and Bonton Bar, Shannon’s Corner Butcher Shoppe, Sweet Street Candies & Goodies, and Tom & Eddie’s from Lombard’s south side, brought food and donated services for the occasion, making it a true community event with “welcome wagon” hospitality.

Desert Rose Design has always been passionate about giving back to the community, and as a women-owned business, felt that a clothing drive partnered with Poised for Success would match their enthusiasm for both. Poised for Success promotes economic self-sufficiency in women by providing business clothing and referrals for career training to women on financial assistance. Poised for Success serves women in Chicago and the suburbs. “As a result of our services, 76% of our clients believe that they landed a job that provided some financial freedom,” said Executive Director, Gail Foster. “What better than a successful women-owned firm to showcase our agency and to inspire the women we assist?” Desert Rose Design will continue to accept donations throughout the month of May.
Never content to “play it safe”, Desert Rose Design introduced a mod new interior designed by David Thompson of Thompson Interior Studio with a stylish Mad Men-themed bash. Sporting their best Betty and Don Draper duds, DRD staff and guests alike hob-nobbed over Manhattans and candy cigarettes and enjoyed some Beatles tunes courtesy of local musician Evan Stark.
