One of the most festive and traditional aspects of the Holiday season are the lights shining from neighborhood homes, trees and bushes, transforming dark winter nights into a bright and exciting visual experience.  For over 40 years, the Infant Welfare Society has been lighting up Christmas Eve driveways and streets around the Chicagoland area with their annual Luminaria Sale.  Luminaria itself means "little fires" and refers to the age-old tradition of lighting the way for the Christ child on Christmas Eve.  Luminaria consist of simple brown paper bags containing  sand and a lighted candle and are placed along driveways, walkways and curbsides.  Luminaria supplies are sold around town, making it a fast and convenient holiday preparation experience.

New this season! Luminaria supplies are now available at BOTH WHEATON Buikema’s ACE Hardware stores starting December 1st thru December 24th!  You can pick up your 5 candles and 5 bags, and our beautiful, decorative gift sets (perfect for hostess gifts throughout the holidays!)  at both Buikema’s Wheaton ACE locations:    90 E. Loop Road and 1705 N. Main Street .

Luminaria are perfect to light up your block, neighborhood, church or an entire subdivision this Christmas Eve or any special occasion throughout the year.   The Wheaton Chapter of the Infant Welfare Society holds this fundraiser annually – all proceeds benefit the Infant Welfare Society – a 100 year old charity that provides health care to women and children in need.  Buikema’s ACE Hardware is a proud supporter of The Infant Welfare Society!  Please call Laura 630-607-4469 for additional information!
