Art Historian Discusses American Nature Painters at Winfield Library

Art historian Jeff Mishur will discuss American nature painters such as Thomas Cole and Andrew Wyeth.

Winfield Public Library will host the “For Spacious Skies: Great American Nature Paintings” on Oct. 25.

Art historian Jeff Mishur will present the slide lecture. Mishur holds an M.A. from Northern Illinois University in the History of Art and is Vice President and Co-owner of Art Excursions, which provides boutique art tours and lectures.

Attendees will learn about the work of famous American nature painters such as Andrew Wyeth, Thomas Cole, Winslow Homer and Albert Bierstadt.

“The Library is thrilled to welcome our favorite art historian back as part of our Winfield Reads Together Community Reading Program. This program will help us appreciate the natural beauty of the land,” said Dawn Leardi, adult programming coordinator.
