Attempted Child Abduction Reported In Wheaton: Police

Police say the girl saw a man running toward her and went into the house for safety. He later reportedly attempted to grab her.

WHEATON, IL -- Wheaton Police are investigating a report of an attempted child abduction that took place Friday night. The reported incident took place around 9:45 p.m. in the 300 block of South Pierce.

Police say the child said she saw a male running toward her while she was playing in her driveway and ran into her house for safety. When the child went back outside later to look for a lost pet, police say she was reportedly grabbed on the arm, but was able to get free.

The suspect is described as a white male with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a white jacket and a green shirt and had a green, red, and white bandanna tied around his neck. Police say a dark-colored sedan was spotted in the area earlier that day, but it is unclear whether the sedan was linked to the reported attempted abduction.
