Attempted Child Abduction Under Investigation In Wheaton
Police say a man asked a young girl for her phone number and address and then asked her to get into his car.
WHEATON, IL — Police in Wheaton are investigating an attempted child abduction after a man asked a young girl to get into his car Monday evening. The incident took place in the 1200 block of North Main Street.
According to police, the girl was walking on the sidewalk when a man pulled up in a smaller black SUV. Police say the man asked the girl for her phone number and address before asking her to get into his SUV.
The girl told the man she would call the police and he drove off heading north on Main Street.

The girl told police the man was in his 20s or 30s and was clean-shaven with short black hair. He may have been wearing casual business attire, police say.
