Attic Fire Damages Wheaton Home on New Year's Eve

The blaze is under investigation.

The Wheaton Fire Department is investigating a fire that broke out in an attic on New Year’s Eve night.

The Wheaton Fire Department was called to 203 Secretariat Court at 10:10 p.m. on Dec. 31 where they found a fire in the attic of a single-family home, according to a city of Wheaton press release.

The blaze was brought under control within 20 minutes. The home was unoccupied at the time of the blaze and no one was injured in the fire.

The cause of the fire was not yet been determined. The City of Wheaton Building Department was called to the scene and they declared the building to be uninhabitable, according to the news release. 

The Wheaton Fire Department was also assisted on the scene by the Wheaton Police Department and several fire departments from neighboring communities.
