WHEATON, IL -- The DuPage County Bomb Squad responded to support of a "suspicious package" found near the doorsteps of a church Monday evening. The package, which bomb squad officials said had been "rendered safe" before 10 p.m., was found at St. Joseph's Orthodox Church, 412 Crescent St.

In an update, city officials said the package was apparently an electronic doorbell that had been "wrapped up and sealed in a large box with a typed note on top."

Residents who live near the church were evacuated from their homes just after 8 p.m. as a precautionary measure.
