Conversations on Faith and Society: Stories from the Underside of History

The Human Needs & Global (HNGR) Resources Program at Wheaton College presents, “Conversations on Faith and Society: Stories from the Underside of History”, a plenary talk by Dr. Melba Maggay and Dr. Jordan Ryan on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at 7:30 PM.

For this plenary event of the HNGR program's 50th anniversary celebration, we welcome Dr. Melba Padilla Maggay to campus. An esteemed educator, author, and social activist, she founded ISACC (Institute for Studies in Asian Church and Culture) in 1978 in response to the historical crisis posed by the experience of authoritarianism in the Philippines. Enjoy learning from Dr. Maggay and Dr. Jordan Ryan (Associate Professor of New Testament) as they engage in conversational storytelling about how to sustain a bold witness of God’s peaceful and just kingdom in troubled times.
