Nazareth Hospital Chaplain Christine Farah to Address Role of Spiritual Care in the Galilee Region as Trauma and Anxiety Escalate for Workers and Patients
WHEATON, IL (Aug. 20, 2026) –Christine Farah, spiritual care practitioner and counselor at the Nazareth Hospital in Israel, will present her unique perspective on the daily lives of the those living in and around Nazareth, during a breakfast forum at 8:30 a.m., Sat., Sept. 26 at the First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton, 715 N. Carlton. The event, sponsored by the Nazareth Project, Inc. (NPI), will feature Farah’s experiences of providing emotional and spiritual support across diverse cultural settings, as well as updates on what life is like for people, of all faiths, in the region, according to Susan Drinan, coordinator of the event.
“This is an incredible opportunity to hear what is actually happening in and around Nazareth, and to learn of ways we can provide support to those ministering in this troubled land,” said Drinan. “Christine is highly committed to whole-person care, and to ministry in interfaith and multilingual contexts.”
Farah is originally from the north of England, and moved to Nazareth following her marriage to Elias, who is from the region. Her work began as the director of the volunteer program SERVE with the Nazareth Trust, based in Edinburgh, Scotland. Following the issues and shutdown with COVID, Farah began her master’s study of pastoral care and soon transitioned to joining and growing the chaplaincy program at Nazareth Hospital.
Regarding her interfaith work, Farah said, “we are very lucky in this land; when we meet people of different religions, most of them believe in God, and despite our differences, we can share something meaningful.”
There is no cost to attend the event, and all members of the public are welcome. An offering will be taken to support the chaplaincy work at Nazareth Hospital.
