The Marion E. Wade Center at Wheaton College presents "The Boy Behind the Wardrobe: How C. S. Lewis Grew Up to Create Narnia, with Suzanne Poulter Harris," a lecture by Suzanne Poulter Harris on Saturday, November 7, 2026 at 11:00 AM.

Join us for a read-aloud, book talk, and book signing featuring a new picture book biography of C. S. Lewis, The Boy Behind the Wardrobe: How C. S. Lewis Grew Up to Create Narnia by Suzanne Poulter Harris. Drawing on her research and twenty-five years of living in County Down, Suzanne Poulter Harris will explore the places and landscapes of Northern Ireland that shaped C. S. Lewis’s childhood and inspired the creation of Narnia. Join us afterwards to meet the author for a book signing!

Suzanne Poulter Harris taught geography two miles from C. S. Lewis’s childhood home in Belfast before trading her classroom to travel the world as a U.S. Air Force spouse. Today, she teaches elementary school reading in Northern Virginia and is the author of the children’s book, The Boy Behind the Wardrobe: How C. S. Lewis Grew up to Create Narnia. Suzanne holds a B.A. (Honours) in Geography from Queen’s University Belfast and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from The University of Ulster in Northern Ireland.

Wade Center,   Room 130 Bakke Auditorium,   located at 351 East Lincoln Avenue in Wheaton on the Northwest corner of campus at the intersection of Washington Street and Lincoln Avenue.
