Carol Stream Man Held On $1M Bond For Drug-Induced Homicide: Cops
Police say he supplied a man with fentanyl that led to a fatal overdose.

CAROL STREAM, IL — Bond will remain at $1 million for a Carol Stream man who is in custody on charges of drug-induced homicide. Mark Vecchione, 28, of the 500 block of Canterbury Drive, faces felony counts of drug-induced homicide and unlawful delivery of a controlled substance in the July 29 death of a Hanover Park man.
According to police, Vecchione supplied Logan Reiss, 30, with bags of narcotics that were later determined to be fentanyl. Police found several empty baggies that had contained fentanyl when they found Reiss dead inside a Hanover Park home.
An investigation led police to Vecchione, who was arrested July 30 and charged with possession of a controlled substance and manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance.

In a statement, DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin gave his condolences to Reiss's family. He added, "The charges filed today against Mr. Vecchione will again send the message to any would-be drug dealer that in DuPage County you will be identified, apprehended and charged if you are the suspected source of a fatal drug overdose. Hopefully, a dealer may have second thoughts about selling this poison knowing that they will be looking at a significant amount of time locked up if they are the proven source of a fatal overdose."
Vecchione is scheduled to appear in court again on Oct. 7.
