Celtic Art, Christian Symbolism: The Book of Kells
In this hands-on workshop, join Frank Crowley on a visual journey into the Book of Kells.

The Book of Kells was completed more than a thousand years ago in the British Isles. Considered a masterwork of Western calligraphy and illumination, the Book of Kells is widely regarded as Ireland's finest national treasure. In this hands-on workshop, join Frank on a visual journey into the manuscript’s pages of traditional Christian iconography enlivened with figures of humans, mythical beasts, and the ornate swirling motifs and interlacing patterns of Celtic art.
Frank Crowley is the art gallery curator for the Irish American Heritage Center in Chicago, IL. He is an artist and teaches Celtic art to children and adults. He gives presentations internationally on the history and art of the Book of Kells and writes a monthly column for the Irish American News.
