Child Abduction Attempt Reported In Wheaton: Police

Police say two juveniles were walking on the sidewalk when a man asked for their phone numbers.

WHEATON, IL — Wheaton police are asking the public for help finding a man who is accused of trying asking two children for their phone numbers as they walked in the 500 block of East Parkway Drive. The incident took place around 2 p.m. Friday, police say.

The children told police the man pulled up in an older black SUV and asked for their phone numbers before trying to get them to come to the car. When the children refused, the suspect reportedly continued heading east on Parkway.

Police say the man was described as an African-American male in his 40s who was last seen wearing a red baseball hat and a black shirt.
