Child Pornography Charges Filed Against Wheaton Man
Robert J. Morales, of the 1600 block of Monticello Court, was charged with five counts of possession of child pornography.

WHEATON, IL — A Wheaton man faces multiple felony charges after police say he was caught in possession of child pornography.
Robert J. Morales, of the 1600 block of Monticello Court, was charged with five counts of possession of child pornography of victims under the age of 13, according to an update from the City of Wheaton.
Morales was taken into custody on an arrest warrant Tuesday, following an investigation launched by Wheaton Police after they got a tip from the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Taskforce. Police reported that a search warrant led them to discover evidence that led to Morales's charges.

"I would like to thank Detective Hayward and all of those who assisted in the investigation for their diligent and thorough work leading to Mr. Morales’ arrest and charges," Wheaton Police Deputy Chief P.J. Youker said in a statement.
Deputy Chief Youker added, "Child pornography is nearly impossible to remove from the internet, and it revictimizes the already exploited. Mr. Morales allegedly participated in this abuse and should be held responsible for his actions."

DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin commented, "Child pornography is not a victimless crime. Every time one of these images is downloaded or shared on the internet, child pornography claims another young, innocent victim. To protect these most vulnerable, my office stands ready to vigorously prosecute any allegations of child pornography."
Morales was released on bond Wednesday and has been prohibited from having contact with children under 18, except his own child, the city's update said.
He is set to appear in court March 6.
