WHEATON, IL - A cost-sharing program between the city and homeowners at Wheaton Place Condominium will help pay for a new fence on the building’s roof with the hopes of warding off vandals who have caused damage and trespassers who residents have reportedly been spotted by fourth-floor residents into their units through skylights at night, according to the Daily Herald.

The Wheaton City Council on Monday agree to pay for half of the “fencing-type basket,” which is meant to ward off the criminals who city officials said are reaching the building’s roof by scaling a wall on the top floor of an adjacent parking garage and likely getting up onto the roof by standing on vehicles in the garage, according to the article. The city did install a camera on the top floor of the parking garage, which has lead to some arrests.
