This fall, members of the community were able to join the Wheaton Police Department for our second Citizen’s Police Academy. For 10 weeks, participants learned about crash investigations, interviews, interrogations, traffic stops, weapons and tasers, critical incident debriefs and more. They also had the opportunity to tour DuCOMM Dispatching Center.

This group was originally picked to participate in 2020, but due to the pandemic, the class was put on hold.
“We were excited to bring this program back because it shows our residents all the different aspects of our jobs as well as helps us build relationships with those we serve,” said Crystal Miroballi, Community Engagement Officer.
