Cop Impersonator Targeting Residents, Businesses In Wheaton
Police say a man has been calling residents and businesses posing as a retired police officer and saying he has warrants for their arrest.

WHEATON, IL — Wheaton city officials are urging residents to stay vigilant after a man has been calling individuals and businesses pretending to be a police officer to scam them out of money.
Police say the man makes calls and gives the name of a police officer who is retired. He then says the person he called failed to appear for witness duty in court and that there is a warrant for their arrest.
The caller then tells the person who answered they must send funds to Washington DC via Venmo or Zelle in order for the charges to be dropped.
