Crisis Recovery Center Gets OK From DuPage County Board

The new $25.8 million crisis recovery center will occupy a 33,000 square foot space in the Linda A. Kurzawa Community Center.

WHEATON, IL — A new crisis recovery center has been approved in DuPage County with the aim of providing services for residents who are experiencing a behavioral health or substance use crisis. The $25.8 million project got the go-ahead from DuPage County Board on Tuesday and will include a 33,000 square foot center adjacent to the Linda A. Kurzawa Community Center, at 115 N. County Farm Rd.

"This historic investment will improve access to much-needed mental health and substance use treatment services for those in our community who need them most," DuPage County Board Chair Deborah Conroy said in a statement. "We will work to prioritize mental health services and ensure this center is one of the best and most efficient mental health facilities in the state and the nation."

The project is funded in part by $15.3 million from the American Rescue Plan Act and $5.5 million from the Rebuild Illinois Capital Plan. The DuPage County Health Department will provide the balance, along with a $1 million grant provided by Rep. Sean Casten.
