Despite Outcry from Neighbors, Wheaton Approves 5 New Homes

The five new homes will be built on a half-acre lot in downtown Wheaton.

A zoning application for a development project that neighbors have argued is too dense and too close to other property lines was approved 4-3 by the Wheaton City Council on Tuesday, the Daily Herald reports. The development includes five new homes on a half-acre lot that currently houses a 128-year-old home.

Aihart Construction plans to build five three-story homes on the property at 208 N. West Street that range from 2,400 to 3,000 square feet in space, according to the article.

Neighbors have also expressed concern the homes will face in the wrong direction since they will be facing east-west while the rest of the residences face north-south while others have said the addition of a “motor court” could lead to more flooding issues in the area.
