District 200 Approves Tech Agreements for New Computers, Equipment
District 200 Board of Education approves lease and purchase agreements for more than 2,000 computers and 1,150 pieces of equipment.

The District 200 Board of Education last week approved the following three technology expenses to lease 1,221 computers for the two high schools, 860 laptops and 26 laptop carts and buy 1,150 monitors and sound bars for the high schools.
Lease: 1,221 computers
The board approved one four-year lease through Providence Capital Network for 1,221 computers, including 100 with a wireless card, 660 with no wireless card, 340 with higher processing power for student labs and 121 iMacs for art and business labs. The yearly lease will be $185,098, with an end-of-lease option to purchase all or some of the equipment.

Purchase: 1,150 monitors and sound bars
The district will buy 1,150 monitors and sound bars from an expiring lease for the high schools for $50.62 per package, or a total of $58,213—about $88,775 less than the cost to buy new monitors and sound bars at $122.49 a package. The monitors and sound bars will be used with the new PCs.

Lease: 860 laptops, 26 laptop carts
The district will enter a three-year lease through Providence Capital Network for $165,719 a year for 860 student laptops and 26 carts to hold them. There is an end of lease option to purchase all or some of the equipment.
The expenses will come out of the 2013-14 technology budget.
