Double Murder-Suicide To Blame For Winfield Family's Death
Police say Karl Clinkenbeard killed his mother and father before taking his own life.

WINFIELD, IL ---The recent death of an adult son and his elderly parents inside their Winfield home has been ruled a double murder-suicide, according to police. Winfield Police say Nancy Clinkenbeard, 77, and Clyde Clinkenbeard, 76, were murdered by their son, Karl, 50, who later took his own life.
The family's bodies were discovered by a neighbor in the 500 block of Jefferson St. on the morning of March 21 after the family dog was found outside barking. After knocking repeatedly, the concerned neighbor looked into the home and found the family unresponsive.
Police say multiple sources indicate that Karl had recently been told he could no longer live in the family's home and police believe that this led him to take Nancy and Clyde's lives before taking his own.
