DuPage Co. Hopes To Raise Awareness About Suicide And Crisis Lifeline
DuPage County hopes to shine a light on mental health with a new campaign promoting its 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
DUPAGE COUNTY — As Mental Health Awareness Month kicks off, DuPage County Health Department (DCHD) is launching a big push to raise awareness about its 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.
"Mental health issues are a growing concern and the need for help is great," DCHD Executive Director Karen Ayala said in a statement. "Mental Health Awareness Month provides a dedicated time for people, organizations, and communities to collectively bring their voices together and amplify the message help and hope is available."
Free social media toolkits are available in different languages for residents to download and share online or send to family members and friends. The toolkits include engaging graphics and information about the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline and other mental health resources offered in DuPage County.

Residents are encouraged to share the toolkits and follow DCHD on social media for additional information.
As one of six 988 call centers throughout Illinois, DuPage County's Suicide and Crisis Lifeline allows residents to call or text in case of crisis to speak with counselors who are trained to help people navigate depression, substance abuse, suicidal thoughts and other issues. DuPage County also offers a mobile crisis line, 630-627-1700 providing help with housing and stabilization.
