DuPage Cops Arrest 5, Dole Out 38 Speeding Tickets Over Holidays
The DuPage County Sheriff's Office issued dozens of citations during a traffic crackdown that took place Dec. 17 through Jan. 3.
WHEATON, IL — The DuPage County Sheriff's Office made five arrests and doled out dozens of tickets during its recent winter holiday crackdown.
Police increased patrols from Dec. 17 through Jan. 3 to target seatbelt violations and distracted and impaired driving. Extra emphasis was given to patrols during late-night hours, a news release said .
The following citations were by DuPage Sheriff's Office during the crackdown:

- 38 speeding tickets
- 10 tickets for lack of insurance
- 2 citations for expired license plates
- 2 citations for improper lane usage
- 1 ticket for disobeying a traffic control device
- 1 ticket for improperly passing an emergency vehicle
- 1 citation for distracted driving
The agency's increased enforcement was part of a statewide initiative funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
