DuPage County Coronavirus Update: 80 New Cases In 24 Hours
The county reported 80 new coronavirus cases in 24 hours Sunday.
DUPAGE COUNTY, IL — The number of daily new coronavirus cases in DuPage County continues to rise after showing a decline in recent weeks. As of Sunday, there were 80 new coronavirus cases reported in 24 hours, which is more than double of those reported in late June.
This brings the total number of coronavirus cases reported in DuPage County to 9,721 with 481 deaths, according to DuPage County Health Department (DCHD). As of Sunday, there was one coronavirus-related death reported in DuPage County. The death was a woman in her 80s, DCHD said.
The news comes as cases in Illinois reach 153,916. The statewide death toll from coronavirus was at 7,187 as of Sunday and the recovery rate was 94 percent, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

The DuPage County Coroner's Office directed Patch to the DuPage County Health Department for a breakdown of deaths by city, but the health department said it is not releasing that information as of press time.
According to the county's breakdown, the majority of cases have affected those between the ages of 40 and 70, but all age ranges had confirmed cases. Here is the age breakdown as of Sunday evening.
- 0-9 years old: 187
- 10-19 years old: 569
- 20-29 years old: 1,600
- 30-39 years old: 1,500
- 40-49 years old: 1,600
- 50-59 years old: 1,600
- 60-69 years old: 1,200
