DuPage County Coronavirus Update: 2,739 Cases, 138 Deaths

DUPAGE COUNTY, IL — As of Tuesday, DuPage County reports 2,739 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus and 138 deaths. County officials say the number of positive cases is "likely much higher" due to cases that are "unreported or untested."

County officials said three coronavirus-related deaths were reported since Monday. They are:

  • A man in his 70s with underlying conditions who was living in a long-term care facility in Wheaton
  • A man in his 80s with underlying conditions who was living in a long-term care facility in Lombard
  • A woman in her 90s with underlying conditions who was living in a long-term care facility in Elmhurst

The news comes as cases in Illinois reach 48,102. The statewide death toll from coronavirus was at 2,125 as of Tuesday, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

The DuPage County Coroner's Office directed Patch to the DuPage County Health Department for a breakdown of deaths by city, but the health department said it is not releasing that information as of press time.

According to the county's breakdown, the majority of cases have affected those between the ages of 40 and 70, but all age ranges had confirmed cases. Here is the breakdown as of Tuesday evening.

  • 0-9 years old: 26
  • 10-19 years old: 43
  • 20-29 years old: 338
  • 30-39 years old: 398
  • 40-49 years old: 456
  • 50-59 years old: 461
  • 60-69 years old: 413
  • 70-79 years old: 252
  • 80 years old and older: 352
