DuPage County Coronavirus Update: 9,862 Cases, 489 Deaths

DUPAGE COUNTY, IL — As of Wednesday, the DuPage County Health Department (DCHD) reports 9,862 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus and 489 deaths. The numbers include 68 new cases since Tuesday.

County health officials said two coronavirus-related deaths were reported since Tuesday. They are:

  • A man in his 40s
  • A man in his 80s

The news comes as cases in Illinois reach 156,693. The statewide death toll from coronavirus was at 7,226 as of Wednesday and the recovery rate was 94 percent, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

The county's system of reporting shows confirmed coronavirus cases in age groups from 0 through 9 years old to 80 and older. It also includes a breakdown of cases by municipality.

The DuPage County Coroner's Office directed Patch to the DuPage County Health Department for a breakdown of deaths by city, but the health department said it is not releasing that information as of press time.

According to the county's breakdown, the majority of cases have affected those between the ages of 40 and 70, but all age ranges had confirmed cases. Here is the age breakdown as of Wednesday afternoon.

  • 0-9 years old: 190
  • 10-19 years old: 583
  • 20-29 years old: 1,600
  • 30-39 years old: 1,500
  • 40-49 years old: 1,600
  • 50-59 years old: 1,600
  • 60-69 years old: 1,200
  • 70-79 years old: 684
  • 80 years old and older: 860
