DuPage County To Resume Court Hearings, Marriages

A number of court hearings had been suspended due to the new coronavirus.

DUPAGE COUNTY, IL — The DuPage County courthouse will resume hearing cases both in-person and remotely on June 8, but with safety measures in place. Most court hearings had been suspended previously due to the new coronavirus shutdown.

Some of the safety measures include, according to a press release:

  • Reducing the number of daily court calls
  • Holding remote hearings
  • Temperature readings taken upon entry to courthouse
  • Face coverings required within public spaces
  • Courtroom seating marked for social distancing
  • Plexiglas shields and hand sanitizer in courtrooms
  • Enhanced cleaning and disinfecting

For the time being domestic, civil and chancery matters will be handled remotely. Criminal, misdemeanor and traffic hearings will be held in person.

Criminal jury trials are set to resume July 20 and civil jury trials are set to resume August 24.

Marriage and civil union ceremonies will resume June 11 and will be held by appointment on Thursdays and Fridays. To request an appointment, call 630-407-8232.
