DuPage Courthouse Reschedules Cases Amid Coronavirus Closures
Criminal and civil cases will be rescheduled through April 17.

WHEATON, IL — Amid ongoing coronavirus closures, the DuPage County Courthouse has opted to reschedule cases through April 17. The change affects both criminal and civil cases set in the 18th Judicial Court, according to a news release from the DuPage County Courthouse.
The decision to reschedule cases comes after an administrative order from DuPage County Chief Judge Daniel Guerin. Cases will be rescheduled between 30 to 60 days from the originally scheduled court date.
Traffic court cases will also be rescheduled, as the following courtrooms are closed effective March 17:

- Downers Grove Traffic Court
- Addison Traffic Court
- Traffic Courtrooms 1001 and 1003 inside the DuPage Courthouse
Despite, the rescheduled cases, the DuPage County Courthouse will remain open and will offer limited services. Officials say the following types of cases will go on unless parties are otherwise notified:
- Bail Hearings
- Felony, Misdemeanor and Juvenile cases with
- In-custody defendants or speedy trial demands
- Jury trials with in'custody defendants or speedy trial demands
- Petitions and Hearings on Orders of Protection
- Summary Suspension Hearings
- Juvenile Detention and Shelter Care Hearings
- Mental Health Hearings
- Emergency Motions
As a further precaution, the court requests that the following parties do not "enter the courthouse" if they:

- Have been in any of the following countries within the last 21 days: China, Italy, Japan, Iran or countries identified by the U.S. Department of State as Warning Level 3, which includes the countries of Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
- Reside or have close contact with anyone who has been in one of those countries listed above within the last 21 days; or
- Have been directed to quarantine, isolate or self-monitor at home for the coronavirus by any medical provider; or
- Have been diagnosed, or have had close contact with anyone diagnosed, with COVID-19; or
- Have flu-like symptoms including fever, cough or shortness of breath.
DuPage Courthouse Suspends Weddings Amid Coronavirus Concerns
They encourage adults with "severe underlying chronic medical conditions" to "exercise caution and discretion in determining whether to enter the courthouse."

The courthouse's law library and Safe Harbor Children's Waiting Room are closed through April 20. Weddings and civil ceremonies have been canceled until April 24.
