DuPage Women's Club Amazed at Classes and Offerings at CODs Culinary, Hospitality & Tourism Center
Members toured the Center with Program Chair Mary Beth Leone on March 3
Members of DuPage Women’s Club paid a March 3rd visit to the amazing Culinary, Hospitality & Tourism program housed in its own building at College of DuPage. We are blessed to have this great resource available to west suburban residents.
The beautiful high-tech center makes quite an impression at 425 Fawell Boulevard in Glen Ellyn. A huge stone fireplace greets students and visitors in the lobby that has a welcoming hotel desk for the Inn at Water’s Edge, entries to the gourmet Waterleaf restaurant and Wheat Cafe and a glimpse beyond a glass wall to the kitchen laboratories. Students are involved in operating both the hotel and restaurants as part of their curriculum as well as running every aspect of a few special events each year.
Program Chair Mary Beth Leone gave DuPage Women’s Club members an overview of the many offerings in the department ranging from the seven degree programs to many certificates and micro credential programs like wedding planning. There are three degrees in Culinary and four degrees in Hospitality and Travel and Tourism. Hospitality employees are much in demand, Professor Leone said. She also said COD is one of only a few institutions that offers a degree in Travel & Tourism.
