Employee Steals Champagne from Jewel-Osco, Drinks it While Working: Police

A boozing employee, arson reported near a Wheaton Dumpster and home burglaries are among the recent crime reports made in Wheaton.

 Here is a look at recent crime reports made in Wheaton:

  • An employee took a bottle of champagne without paying for it from Jewel-Osco, 30 Danada Square, at 6:30 a.m. on Nov. 20. The employee proceeded to drink the champagne while working.
  • Between 7 p.m. and 7:23 p.m. on Nov. 19, an unknown person, or persons, set various unknown items on fire near a Dumpster at 1147 Briarbrook Drive.
  • Police received a report of a residential burglary at a home in the 200 block of Wood Street that took place between July 1 and Nov. 16. A $4,000 bracelet was taken from a bedroom. A guest that stayed at the residence from April through August is suspected of stealing the bracelet.
  • Between 10:50 a.m. and 1:20 p.m. on Nov. 17, an unknown person gained entry to a home in the 800 block of Main Street and took jewelry from one of the bedrooms.
  • Several criminal damage to property and burglary to motor vehicle reports were made between Nov. 16 and Nov. 21 in Wheaton. A mailbox was damaged with a baseball bat, an iPod was stolen from a vehicle and a garden soaker hose was damaged in a backyard.
