Civil War Kids

Kids will be fascinated with life in America during the Civil War as they participate in activities offered at the Center for History during the summer.  A camp scene and equestrian accoutrements will provide hands-on experience of how a soldier lived and what he had to do to take care of his horse.  Tales of soldiers from Wheaton and women left at home will amuse and surprise everyone. Participants will write a cross-hatch letter, get mustered into the army, learn to march in formation, sing a camp song, and search for specific artifacts in the exhibit, War of the Rebellion: On & Off the Battlefield.  Admission is reduced for this program to $3 per person. The Center for History is funded solely by donations and fees.  Call 630-871-6601 for more information.
