With record low interest rates and high numbers of available homes for sale, 2012 looks to be a strong year for buying homes in DuPage County. To better equip home-owners with the process of buying a home and qualifying for mortgages, the DuPage Homeownership Center will be hosting a free homebuyers festival.
The DuPage Homeownership Center’s “Your Time is Now-2012 Homebuyers Festival” will be on Saturday, March 3 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Illinois Institute of Technology Wheaton Campus, located at 201 East Loop Road in Wheaton, IL.
The festival will provide an opportunity for homebuyers to connect with lenders, realtors, and other professionals involved in various stages of the home purchasing process. The event will also consist of seminars on such topics as qualifying for low interest rate mortgages, understanding and preparing credit reports, and purchasing short sale or foreclosed properties.
The Dupage Homewonership Center (DHOC) is a non-profit HUD-certified housing counseling agency which provides free services to promote and preserve homeownership in DuPage County. For the past 20 years, DHOC has prepared low-to-moderate-income first-time homebuyers with pre-purchase counseling, financial literacy and help with making sound lending and home-buying decisions.
The festival is also a cultural outreach event and will provide Spanish, Polish, Burmese and other translation services. Gold sponsors of the event are Mainstreet Organization of REALTORS®(MORe), US Bank, and BMO Harris.
