Dr. Carol Simon's lecture will explore answers to the question: "How many kinds of love are there?" C.S. Lewis' views on love will be examined and compared to those of several thinkers who influenced him, including Augustine, Dante, Simone Weil, and Andre Nygren.
Dr. Simon is a professor of philosophy at Hope College. She has authored two books on the nature of Christian higher education and published many articles on moral knowledge, virtue ethics, friendship and sexuality. Most recently, her article "Lewis on Love" was published in Cambridge Companion to C. S. Lewis.
