Lecture Series on Counterinsurgency

A lecture by Colonel Gian P. Gentile is the second of three evening programs at the First Division Museum devoted to counterinsurgency. Col. Gentile is critical of this war strategy, believing the Army’s focus on it will result in the loss of traditional fighting skills.

Col. Gentile is a visiting fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations. He was most recently the director of the military history program at the United States Military Academy at West Point. He was a brigade combat team executive officer in the 4th Infantry Division in Tikrit in 2003, and commanded a cavalry squadron in the 4th Infantry Division in west Baghdad in 2006.
