The Children’s Playhouse of the Wheaton Park District will present “Toys in Pieces,” featuring a daring group of toys that sets off on a mission to rescue a damaged toy while racing against the clock and a pack of hungry rats. Ideal for families and children of all ages, the shows will take place in the Memorial Room of the Wheaton Community Center (1777 S. Blanchard) on Friday, May 20 at 7 p.m. and Saturday May 21 at 2 p.m.
The one-act play will feature singing, dancing, and opportunities foraudience participation. Involved in the production of Wheaton Park District plays since 2005, Director Lynn (Scheffler) Collins says, “The most wonderful part of this cast is that the older students are helping with the younger ones and there is a great feeling of teamwork among the cast members,” says Collins.

Tickets are now available for purchase at the front desk of the Wheaton Community Center. The center is open on weekdays from 5 a.m. until 10 p.m.; Saturdays from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.; and Sundays from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students (ages 3-11) and senior citizens (ages 60 and older). Tickets may also be purchased for the same price the day of theshow.
For more than 15 years, the Wheaton Park District has offered children the opportunity to gain hands-on theater experience which culminates in a performance. Actors in Toys in Pieces range in age from 7 to 17 years old. Most attend Wheaton area elementary, middle, and high schools.
