The Wild Men of West Suburbia

The Burning Bush Gallery will display an exhibition of paintings by Bill Austin beginning on Sunday, Sept. 25 and running through Sunday, Oct. 2.  A reception will be held on October 2 at the Gallery from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. and is open to the public.

"Just as George Caitlin documented the faces and costumes of the Native Americans of the Old West, I've produced a one-of-a-kind visual record of a relatively obscure group known as the wild men of west suburbia, a non-indigenous group of men living, working and recreating within a larger population that for the most part is unaware of their existence," Austin said.

The show will also feature other works from Austin's "Tango" series, his "Freeway" series and some paintings of musicians.  There are some self-portraits sprinkled through the exhibit as well as a handsome portrait of the artist's daughter's dog, Jake.
