Ex-DuPage Sheriff's Employee Dies Unexpectedly Before Trial
Gregg Hanyzeski, 52, died on March 26.

DUPAGE COUNTY, IL — A Naperville man who was charged with public indecency and official misconduct during his time working for the DuPage County Sheriff's Office has died unexpectedly and results of the coroner's death investigation are still pending. Gregg Hanyzeski, 52, died on March 26; his trial was set to begin on March 28, the Daily Herald reports.
Hanyzeski had worked as a dispatch supervisor for the sheriff's office since 2000 and was fired in 2017 in connection with this case. His official cause of death is still under investigation by the DuPage County Coroner's Office, but the Daily Herald reports that a GoFundMe started in Hanyzeski's memory stated that his death was linked to a "previously undiagnosed" heart condition.
Hanyzeski's 17-year career at the DuPage County Sheriff's Office ended when he was accused of exposing himself to females he worked with and masturbating at work. He pleaded not guilty to the charges in March of 2018.
