Family's Spirit Week Costumes Brighten Internet Amid Coronavirus
A Winfield family is making the most of quarantine with daily themed costumes for "spirit week."

WINFIELD, IL — For some families, the thought of being stuck at home during the stay-at-home order has been something to dread. For the Simpson family in Winfield, though, it's been a daily adventure.
The family of four created the idea of "spirit week" and has dressed up in a theme for more than 50 days straight now. Emma Simpson, 17, told Patch her sister Cameron Simpson, who is home from college because of the coronavirus shutdown, came up with the idea after about three weeks of staying at home.

The idea caught on and the family has been dressing up in a theme every day since. Some of the Simpson family's favorite themes include the Addams Family Day for Sitcom Week, Awkward Family Photo Day for Awkward Family Photo Week, Brady Bunch Day and Romanticized Criminals Day.

Mom Amy Simpson told Patch, "As far as I'm concerned, we are really doing it to cheer ourselves up. We laugh so hard at all of this. It is nice to know that it cheers other people up as well. The more other people enjoy it, the more fun it is for us."

Dad Trevor Simpson said, "My favorite part in all of this is coming up with ideas as a family. Some of them are way out there! I am not sure how much joy it brings to people, but I can see some pretty good chuckles and head scratches in response."
